It weaves the echoes of Manchester’s cotton industry and mills into a powerful sensory journey, highlighting the city’s resilience and its role as a hub where ideas, talent, and industry connect—from historic mills to modern research centers and tech communities.
Created by an artist attuned to patterns and systems, the installation uses rhythm, light, and coded structure to portray Manchester. Central to the work is a dialogue with Alan Turing, a pioneer of computing and codebreaking, whose legacy and quest for freedom of expression underscore the importance of alternative perspectives in Greater Manchester’s ongoing story of innovation.
